Before starting a new career as a Carer my last major project was at an expo centre.

This page showcases some of the stuff work I did on the project. The core part of the role, along with other people, was to replace most of the existing 12 PC's with specialist hardware Media Players

The PC's used to run a Macromedia Director app connected to hardware sequencers via RS32. At defined points during playback, the app sent a command to the sequencers, which in turn activated lights or made something move. While it's a great system, with well over 90% uptime, technology moves on, hence the shift to the DigitalView 300 players.

Designed and created visitor resistant vinyl stickers for each language on the players. Image also shows a render I created which instructs visitors to press a button.

Heres the wiring loom required for each player. Note the very careful labelling of each pair of wires!

These 2 pictures shows a large wooden planter and a large metal night-safe which I had to partly cut-up, and turn into a "rock". This was done using plaster and hessian.

The "rock" after being expertly painted by a staff member, and now holding genuine dinosaur egggs.

This shows the existing "ear-pods". These are turned wood with quality phone speakers, running to the players via the type of cable ducting electricians use.

A V300 Media Player with IR remote trigger. Most displays use buttons connected to a circuit board which connects to the player. This kit will be used on the future setup shown below.

If you own/use a V300 media player, click here for technical notes and useful videos. The videos also show what can be achived with the players and a bit of left-field thinking.
